INTERNATIONAL AIKIDO FEDERATION 14TH AIKIDO SUMMIT

From September 30 to October 6, 2024, the 14th Aikido Summit will be held by the International Aikido Federation in Tokyo. A meeting of the Supreme Council will be held on September 30 and October 1, and an aikido seminar will be held on October 2-6. 10 members of the Azerbaijan Aikikai Aikido Clubs Public Union team will participate in the summit.

On May 10th and 11th evening and morning Guba seminar. On May 11th and 12th evening and morning Baku seminar is planned.

1ST YOUTH SEMINAR OF THE INTERNATIONAL AKIDO FEDERATION

In September 2023, the 1st seminar of the International Federation of Aikido will be held for young aikidoists, which will be taught by Dojo Cho Aikikai Hombu Dojo Mitsuteru Ueshiba (and other instructors). Participation in this seminar will be supported by national federations or the participant himself. There are two conditions for participants to participate in the seminar: age 18-25 years and availability of 1-3 Dan. This seminar is intended for young aikidoists 18+. The seminar will be held in Kyoto, Japan. Will take part in this seminar member of the Azerbaijan “Katana Aikido Sports Club” Public Union Turan Ibrahimli 1 Dan.

Chairman of the International Aikido Federation in Azerbaijan

Chairman of the International Aikido Federation Wilko Vriesman Shihan paid an official visit to Baku on May 16-17, 2023. Meetings with the head of state and the sports administration, which were planned during the visit, did not take place. However, there were meetings with aikido organizations in our country, and an aikido seminar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of our national leader Heydar Aliyev was held. During the event, a press conference was held and ended with the signing of a memorandum between the International Aikido Federation and the Azerbaijan Aikikai Aikido Clubs Public Union.

International Aikido Federation sent a letter

The Board of Directors of the International Aikido Federation sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan, Mr. Wada Junichi, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Farid Gayibov, about the representation of the Public Union of Aikikai Aikido Clubs in the country.

The Board of Directors of the Aikikai Foundation sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan, Mr. Wada Junichi, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Farid Gayibov, about the representation of the Public Union of Aikikai Aikido Clubs in the country.

On December 10, 2021, the head of the Culture and Information Department of the Japanese Embassy, Ono Taichi, met with Ilham Guliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Aikikai Aikido Clubs Public Union. Chairman of Aikikai Aikido Clubs Public Union Ilham Guliyev discussed the current situation of Aikido martial art and its promotion in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Head of Consular and Security Department of the Embassy Hamade Masato, Honorary Chairman of Aikikai Aikido Clubs Public Union Gabil Mammadov, Director of Public and International Relations Department Chingiz Mammadov also participated in the meeting.

An official meeting was held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Wada Chunichi. During the meeting, the Ambassador was presented with an official letter from the International Aikido Federation, and relevant issues were discussed.
The meeting was attended.

2) Mr. Ilham Guliyev – chairman of the public association of Aikikai Aikido Clubs.

Aikido message to Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba regarding COVID-19

COVID-19 is spreading all around the world. I pray for the prompt recovery of all those who have been affected by it, and I would also like to express my sincere condolences to the families of all who have passed away. In these times when COVID-19 is spreading around the world, as a measure to avoid infection various things and events are being reduced or cancelled, and our society feels as though dark clouds are hanging over us. Regarding Aikido, events are being cancelled in all the regions, and most people cannot even keep practicing because of the closing of their training places. Although unavoidable, it is incredibly unfortunate. “The circular movement embodies Aikido’s spirit, the spirit of harmony”. I believe this thought is the most important for us as humans. Right now, especially at this time, we must value the spirit of harmony and not lose our moral sense to fear of the virus. Preventing the spread of infection and self-protection is important. At the same time, are people not becoming exhausted from the fear the current situation is causing? Are we not losing our human thoughtfulness, our kindness? It feels like our state of mind is being tested by this virus. We must fight this fear without losing our sense of morality and committing any kind of discrimination towards others, being calm and affable. Until the time that this infection ends, and we can go back to our daily Aikido practice, I pray for all of us not to forget the “spirit of harmony”, and to keep walking the same path together.
